Hollow Heart

A waste in the end.

The beating pit.

Pulsing with endless echos.

Not once a lasting feeling.

Empty, void of all compassion.

Why do you stare?

You think me a liar perhaps.

I find no smile or cackle blanket my brow.

Just an empty shell.

No meat or spirit resides there.

Only wide spaces where love fades,

And empathy melts with time.

No heart as chilled as mine.

No heart as black as a ravens wing.

Quick words and clever faces, but your eyes flash a yellow hue.

Pale blood escapes my tears.

No pool of grief could fill the cavity,

That is my hollow heart.
