I Am

I Am

I am six years old

I am the example of blissful innocence

I am the child you see playing out in the street alone

I am confused by the other kids not wanting to play with me

I am eight years old

I am the new girl

I am different

I am just trying to make new friends

I am ten years old

I am beaten by the older kids

I am mostly alone with only two friends

I am sad

I am twelve years old

I am very fond of black

I am with the wrong kids

I am still alone

I am fourteen years old

I am a freshman

I am still bullied

I am slowly dying inside

I am sixteen years old

I am still fighting

I am no longer alone

I am loved

I am determined

I am going to be an art teacher

I am going to show kids they are beautiful art pieces

I am going to show them everyone is strong

I am happy again

Amazing! Loved the ending- their are too many poems like this that end in suicide, in my opinion, and not enough that tell us a happy ending is possible.
