I am...
They have given me the task to tell who I am
But a better question to ask is who am I?
Am I the muscle-head; the athletic jock?
Or am I the kid hiding drugs in his sock?
Am I the nerd with the brilliant brain?
Or am I the Goth kid that’s going insane?
Am I the Bully; the badest kid around?
Or am I the one that he knocks to the ground?
Am I the pretty boy who looks so fly?
Or am I the ugly kid who just shouldn’t try?
Am I the A student that will always pass?
Or am I the kid you don’t know cuz he’s never in class?
Am I the one with a future full of open doors?
Or am I the one you always ignore?
These are the questions that were on my mind
And an answer to them wasn’t easy to find
It has been quite a struggle trying to learn my identity
For I wanted to fit in, but I was different from the people next to me
So I rejected popularity and found my own path
And strove to ignore insults from those who laughed
And only in the midst of my confusion and fear
Did a description of my true character appear
And finally now that I am out of this jam
Good and bad I can tell you who I am!
I am a weirdo who is truly unique
I am (how do they say it?) on fleek
I am a stupid youth that thinks he knows what’s right
I am blind man yet I keep my goals in sight
I am a victim who has suffered from strife
I am the follower who has wondered who he was his whole life
I am a masterpiece; a work of art
I am the one who put himself together when he fell apart
I am a thinker with a brilliant mind
I am special and another like me you’ll never find
I am a spark with the potential to blaze
I am a boy coming out of a phase
Were he thought it was necessary to follow the crowd
But now I can say I am truly proud
For I appreciate the differences I have been bestowed
And now forever I will always know
That I don’t always have to be a part of the trends
Because the branch that breaks is the one that bends
