I Am Beautiful
"You are beautful," were the last words my grandmother said,
Laying sickly in her hospital bed.
Not knowing where I was going to be,
Or the places I were assured to see.
You think she is so audacious,
But really all that means is courageous.
Lacking self confidence is something I reserve,
While everyone else is picking, I observe.
Crying myself to sleep every night,
I just can't seem to find why nothing is right.
I tell myself I'm too beautiful for this,
Then I realize I need to remiss.
What other people say shouldn't get to me,
I am too smart and classy.
Each day I am becoming stronger,
Writing stories and poems about my life like I am an author.
I guess that is what you call it,
That sounds legit.
God created us in unique different ways,
Therefore, we are like flower bouquets.
Bright and beautiful describes all of us,
So why should we be boisterous?
I am beautiful, and nobody can tell me different,
I can now easily say that I am confident and prudent.
Words cannot and will not bring me down.
