Last Cance
(poems go here)
When I audition for this
I wondered what I going to say to you all that hasn’t already been said
You’ve heard about me being scared, lonely , and even at times depressed
But, what you haven’t heard is me say that I am proud
Proud of me
Proud of who I have become
Proud of who I am today
I’ve been talked about day in day out
From my shoes, to my hair but, the one that never gets old is chair
It took me awhile to realize that the chair is a part of me but, not who I am
I hear people say man I wish I was in a wheelchair
Do you really?
Do you think you could deal with people looking at you crazy where ever you go
People talking so, bad about that to keep from crying you have to pretend that you didn’t hear them
When people do simple things for you they consider it as a good deed.
Not being able to go on field trip because, there is no bus for you
If you think you can deal with all that on a day to day basis please let me know
You can take my place for a day
But, I know some people couldn’t do it.
See when someone says something that I don’t like I can’t just get up and fight
So, I just try my hardest with everything in me to try and not let it bother me
People think I should be upset and have a frown on my face because I’m in a wheelchair
But, this wheelchair didn’t stop me from making it threw high school
It didn’t stop me from doing to my jr. prom
And won’t stop me from going to my senior one either
And sure as heck won’t stop me from going across that stage come may
Someone once told me no matter how hard it gets never give up
And I’ve kept those words with me since the beginning
And because of those words you see me before you today
I want to thank all those people who talked about from freshman year til now
Because, without those harsh words
I wouldn’t have wanted to strive harder to prove most of you wrong
So, thank you for being a part of my journey
Thank you
