The Last One

We’ve been through so much

Know each other so well

You know who I am

You can totally tell

How broken my life is

From previous partings

But you did the same thing

Smiled, looked away

Footsteps fading silently

As you vanished from my world slowly

Taking that last bit of light along

Hopes, dreams, snuffled out-

Gone

So you know what you did was wrong?

You promised, you promised

To talk to me often

So I waited, I waited

But nothing ever happened

And here I am under the windowsill

Wishing, praying, dreaming still

Another angel fallen now

When will someone tell me how?
