Listen

Does it make sense when I tell you

I have walked almost the same path as you

But I turned out different?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I speak loud

Because I was told to shut up and speak softly?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I believe I am beautiful

Because people called me ugly?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I am kind to others

Because people spewed hateful things at me?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I fight

Because at one point in time there was no one to fight for me?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I stand here with my head up and my back straight

Because people tried to make me bend?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I am strong

Because people have tried to make me weak?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I grew up

Because if I hadn't my family would have fallen apart?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I have stood alone in the face of adversity

But I am stronger for it?

Does it make sense when I tell you

I am me

And that makes me wonderful?

Does it even register?

Does it even click?

Or are you having trouble of making sense

Of what I am telling you?
