The Mask

It starts with the tiniest piece of clay

That ends up forming a face

A plain face at first

That is until

Upon the boring view,

Makeup, hair, and paint are added too.

Layers after layers

Lies after lies

I stare at what is now a stranger

But I can still see your eyes

My mind is deep in thought

About a world with pure loyalty

Unfortunately that will never exist

So I pour out my heart in poetry

Your plaster molding is unique and beautiful in look

But my dear friend

This friendship will not last

Not when you are wearing that ugly mask
