Medusa
They laugh, point, mock,
Stare
Oh do they stare,
With such venom and hate that it spreads like fire,
Engulfing every single person in its wake,
Expect me.
I am the lone girl,
The one with the freakish hair and darkened glasses,
They mock me for my crushes,
Harass me in ways inhumane,
Threaten to fight me if I look their way.
I was once a pretty girl,
With long silky hair and perfect eyes,
Jealousy sparked,
When a certain football player tried to court me,
And by the hand of the queen of the school,
I was made into the ugliest girl in my grade.
I no longer wish to be their target,
Why did I suffer for being beautiful?
For someone else’s obsessive desires?
No more,
No more will I hide my hair,
No more will I hide my eyes,
No more will I hide my fangs,
No more will I hide my hate,
They will learn,
Oh they’ll learn,
Just how entrapping my stare can be,
Trapping them all in a hollow shell,
Forever to be adorned in grey,
Unmoving and unspoken,
Just how they should be.
