A Mexican Tale

It starts with a girl who gets raped & gives birth on her way to the land of opportunity

Hmm, let’s make it a man who is tricked being told they have found a secret route across the border & gets killed taking all his organs out later for it to be known as a forgotten case

Or how about the children who are separated by their mother because people in power choose to shoot every brown skin

Ah yes, the American Dream that is.

The dream that we all hope to flourish with riches.

The place where they welcome racism towards the people of color, of course.

we get called those astounding nicknames: wetback, beaner, Mex-SHIT-an

Our favorite, we can’t forget, when we are sent to our comforting cages, where people are starved to death.

Ah, life is so pleasant.

Welcome to THE AMERICAN DREAM.

Poetry has been my escape ever since I could remember. Every time I think of what to say or write, my throat has a seal that is broken free from strangulation. Words tend to sporadically slip out of my mouth and I have the pure enjoyment of writing them down.
