There is a monster in the closetI know it's there, so hopefully it can't hurt meThe monster in the closet is my anxieties—all my worries about the futureBottled up in an angry swarm of bees, each flying into my earShowing me all the things that can go bad in the long run. There is a second monster in the closet, tooThat monster is a snake, a boa constrictorOnce it gets a hold of me, it won't let go, Making me rewatch the memories of the pastBringing me scenes that could have gone betterThe snake loves pointing out every stutterEvery misspoken word Telling me to redo the scene in my head over and over until I "get it right,"But I know I never will.I know deep down that the painThe venom of both bee and snake,It has made its way into my bloodAnd I will always know that it will never come outSo I am stuck with the burning feeling inside Knowing that it will always be a part of me The never-ending burningBurning of all the things I have done wrong and will do wrong in the futureSo I am left with the burning sense of hopelessnessPraying that the monsters in the closet won't come backThat they will take a break and wait another dayBut they NEVER do The monsters aren't really in the closetBut I like to pretend they areBecause if they are in the closet They can only come out at night When I'm alone in my room Not when I'm out and about, trying to push through another dayBecause when the monsters come out,They NEVER go away And the day can ONLY get worse
A young girl chasing a dream that can't be caught,
Holding onto hope that is too far gone
Losing her mind trying to help others get theirs back
Prayers go unanswered no matter what she does
It's the life of no one, no one but me
