Motivation
People say they understand
People say it's all OK
But then again, who are they?
They don't know what I go through
All they do is misconstrue
They say put on a smile
And change your mind awhile
Fake it till you make it to the top of the pile
Well I can't fake this anymore
And all they say is my attitude's poor
It hurts so bad I want to scream
It's like life's a balance beam
And I'm teetering on the edge
Think I'm gonna fall off
But every day I get out of bed
Pull myself up by my bootstraps
I put my shoes on the wrong feet
And I stare out that window seat
People say they understand
People say it's all OK
But they haven't gone through this
have they?
I don't know why this happens to me
Say everything's got a reason, but I don't see
So when is this show over?
When can we all go home?
I'm tired of being beaten down
I cry without making sound
I let the tears roll down my cheek
I'm tired of being unique
Why can't things be normal again?
Hit "Rewind" and get out of this bind
And my mama told me never go near that kitchen knife
Well I've
Had a little run-in with life
I came a little too close
I went a little too far
And now all I've got left is are these battle scars
They all said don't give up the fight
And I sighed and said, "Well I just might"
I wrapped myself up in a cocoon
All I had was gloom
People say they understand
People say it's all OK
They were right to say
I think I hit rock bottom
But it's all uphill from here
I wanna dig myself out of this pit
I wanna reach that summit
And if I say I will, I will
Find a way to transcend this mess
Somehow transform this unrest
Take the bad and make it good
Like all along, I knew I would
I must've got dealt a bad hand
But proud and true I know I'll stand
Cause when it comes down to it
I know I'll get through it
