Never step on the tail of a cat.
For all you know, he could be lying on the mat.
And if you take one step on his tail,
You will surely hear a most frightful wail.

Never step on the tail of a cat.
For if you do, he’ll make some business in your hat.
He will never sit again in your lap,
Without giving you, with his claws, a tap.

Never step on the tail of a cat.
And be sure to note where he sat.
For God knows what surely will happen,
The poor cat’s tail you certainly will flatten.

Never step on the tail of a cat,
For you he will bring to dinner a rat.
All the furniture, for you he will scratch.
Let loose the rabid dogs, he will unloosen the latch.

Never step on the tail of a cat.
With him you will never find a friendly chat.
For every evil plan he will certainly hatch.
And you will find, he is no longer a perfect match.
