No One Remembers

No one remembers the pain,

No one remembers the tears.

But I remember the screaming,

I remember the fights.

No one remembers you running,

No one remembers the locked door.

But I remember banging,

I remember begging to be let in.

No one remembers that morning,

No one remembers that unsettled feeling.

But I remember waking to the shouts,

I remember the look on your face.

No one remembers the truth,

No one remembers what’s been told.

But I remember all the words spoken.

No one remembers the pain,

No one remembers the tears.

But I remember the screaming,

I remember the fights.

No one remembers you running,

No one remembers the locked door.

But I remember banging,

I remember begging to be let in.

No one remembers that morning,

No one remembers that unsettled feeling.

But I remember waking to the shouts,

I remember the look on your face.

No one remembers the truth,

No one remembers what’s been told.

But I remember all the words spoken.
