November

It started with the first leaf of fall

You captured my eyes and filled me with delight

No one could ever win my heart

But you did

Days spent with loud laughter

But nights filled with dark thoughts

You held me close and promised you’d love me forever

You made me feel like I had potential

Those days were great while they lasted

Soon my sun’s fire was put out

And my moon’s gloom dimmed out

You became someone unrecognizable

The vibrant leafs turned into snow

My smile into tears

Piece by piece you took all of my love

And kept it in your pocket to be forgotten

I guess one day you just decided I was not enough

Yet you wouldn’t let go when I tried to run

I felt trapped in the fresh air of November

Your words are all I remember so I surrender
