Out of Esteem

Take a look at the kid walking down the hallway His head down His mouth a frown You might remember him But he’s not who he was before That’s for sure, Now he’s disheveled and thin Feeling like he’ll never win It all comes back to you, and those days in class When you shot his thoughts down Just as a cheap pass, for your peers to laugh This kid happened to have lower self esteem He felt as if he’d lose if he ever joined a team What happened to treating others like you want to be treated? Where is the joy in making people feel depleted, unheeded, or defeated? Take into consideration what others have to say Because you never know, It could make or break their day That kid is now afraid to raise his hand Afraid that one day he’ll never take a stand, for himself and his words I mean hey, He always goes unheard And it all comes back to that one simple word Respect, for other people’s opinions It’s not a way to make people feel bad And then go and tell your minions And if you lose some respect that’s okay, because it all boils down to what you do, not what you say
