Pain

They tell us pain is gain But what am I going to gain From waking up hating myself, waking up judging myself about my body, my looks, my personality What's so powerful about that? Pain is gain... They keep on repeating Like it's gonna help me unsee the body i hate As if it's gonna make me stop avoiding the mirror because looking At myself is way too painful Pain is gain Tell that to the 12 year old me That just lost his grandmother. 4 days before his birthday Pain is gain Tell that to the 13 year old me That was cutting himself everyday Finding a way to cope Pain is gain Tell that to the 14 year old me Who was still bullied Who lost his friends Pain is gain Tell that to the 15 year old me Who tried making himself better But surrounded himself around the wrong people Pain is gain Tell that to the 16 year old me who's still trying to navigate life Who has blacked himself out from alcohol Who can't see his self worth Pain is gain Yeah sure but where is the gain in my Pain
