Pretend Smile

Hours in our days spent with pretend smile. Just to hide all the pain for a while. Hoping that all mistakes are erased But in the meanwhile, we live being fake. The sun comes up and so does our act Where we place an emotion on top of the other in one disorganized stack. We try to prove to people how happy our lives are And try to make them believe that we really think we can shine like a star. But truly we're just dying inside Not knowing how much longer we can keep up our pride. When the sun goes down, so does the tears from our eyes. The sorrow and anger in our lives finally arrive, Crying ourselves to sleep every night. Imagining every wrong people did to us in our mind. Wishing that everything could just go away. Even considering death if things continue their way. Trying to find an outlook in life, Just needing and searching for that one sign. Every step we take involves a fall. When there's too much to feel, can you feel at all? Emptiness inside would be a dream come true. We'll live without a chance of something to lose. But instead we're here just wanting to break out. Opening our mouths to have a voice but instead no sound. We all prefer to not live in reality. No one wants to admit that there's no way we can live a dream. We all wish to leave this place And appear in a world where being ourselves is ok. But instead we're stuck in this land with only nightmares, Where there is no game of truths, just dares. Mirrors are not a reflection of us, but of society, Where they turned us all to copies of what they want us to be. People who act like everything is a perfect red rose When everything really just has no hope. We all cry over the pain we're not able to let go. Hoping that losing ourselves today can save others tomorrow. Endlessly falling with no sight of ground. Missing for years, wondering if we can ever be found. Starring at the sun but seeing no light. Living each day by losing each fight. Playing the moment when our lives were turned around. The day where we screamed for help and no one was around. Telling the difference between day and night By seeing when the tears fall out of our eyes. Not knowing what we know when everything we know wasn't right. Wondering if happiness is possible in our lives. Blinking lights but can't be saves. Middle of a crowd but invisible through the day Within, we longer have a soul. The only feeling, if any, is cold. So let's just sit here with our pretend smile. And throw all those emotions in a huge pile. Let's keep our minds and hearts closed Because the truth will never be known. So stop celebrating how many days we've been alive And start celebrating that there's one less day until we die.
