Puzzle Complexity
Puzzles;
Blocks that don’t quite fit
Maybe in none of the right places
Did you think of me?
Probably not
But I am
A complex puzzle, that is
Or that’s what I tell myself
I am that piece from a puzzle
that you want to fit
but it doesn’t
So you do whatever it takes
to make it go in the place that
you want it to
And if the pieces don’t slide together,
as you force them,
then you just cut the edges
until it goes like you made it to be
But that’s not right
It wasn’t designed to go there
You have shaped it into something it’s not
Maybe it didn’t want to fit there
Maybe it didn’t want to be changed
Maybe this isn’t about puzzles at all
Not really
This is about me, selfish as it may seem
I was just trying to help you understand
That I am that puzzle piece
The one that doesn’t fit
Anywhere
Can’t you see what you have done?
Admire your handiwork at least, if you must
But I just wanted you to know
That you have broken me
You cut off my edges, or rather
had me do that to myself
You forced me to fit into
your puzzle
when I didn’t want to be there
You tore my spirit away
and now I drown in my sorrow
I drink in the pain;
it comes in wave
after crippling
wave
And it’s not because I am simply
an ordinary puzzle piece
It is because I am the puzzle,
not making sense when
my pieces are apart,
but giving a sense of
overwhelming feeling when complete,
complex in and of myself
I just didn’t fit your standards
But oh, I soared above mine.
