Salvation

These words are a salvation

that flows from the need in my chest

through my arms

and out my flying fingertips

These words are a salvation

stemmed from the same feelings

and whirls of thought

that would otherwise

make me frantic

and blind

These words are a salvation

and I write them not because I wish to

but because I must

this is the way the world is filtered

through me

and I pray that others find such salvation

possibly with the help

of these words

I am a college sophomore going to Seattle Pacific University and living in stunning Portland, Oregon for the summer. Poetry and the written word in general have always captured my attention, but it wasn't until the past year that I realized I really wanted, needed, to write my own. It has quickly become a prominent form of emotional catharsis, an artistic form of journaling. My dream is to collaborate with other artists in creating a multimedia work with the goal of reaching as many people as possible.
