Secrets

Secrets consume;

Eating and tearing away:

You soul and spirit,

Heart and body.

Secrets destroy;

Tear at the threads-

The lifelines connecting us-

Without care or remorse.

Secrets devour;

Enjoying the crack of trust,

The shatter of hearts,

The pain they bring.

And after secrets are exposed,

They follow you on the road;

Piling higher and higher,

Preparing to strike again.
