stained whispers

Because you could not ask,

the thoughts that gently brushed upon your mouth,

your curled, trembling mouth,

paced circles around mine.

Incapable of providing the shelter they were to give,

endurance was left a shield,

a shield your mouth fired at,

my unfortified words.

Tolerant voices,

air stained by your whispers,

tolerant, tolerant

voices.
