Standing Back Up

The comments, they fill me up

But not in the best way

They hurt me, they burn me

But it's not just me

It's all of us

The LGBTQ community at my school

We walk down the hallway and what we hear hurts

Hurts more than a heartbreak, and some words hurt more than a bullet

We blame ourselves for what we hear

Saying to ourselves for what we hear

Saying to ourselves if only we could change, if only we weren't born this way

It takes us a while to accept ourselves and this hurt extends the time it takes to be real

Real to ourselves and real to our loved ones

But what I've learned from all this hurt is that it jsut makes you who you are

You can stand back up and show the people that hurt you that you will not take it, it will not bother you anymore

You will not let them push you down; you will face them and not breathe in their words into your soul

We are who we are

We will not let them hurt us anymore

Together we are strong

Strong and standing tall
