Stars

Instead of living in the depths of rain, Look up and see the stars, tinted with grey and green. Listen to their hum, the sound of their voices, as they lull you to sleep. Above, they guide you, Leading you to where you want to go and where you need to go and where you should go. Where saltwater turns sweet and tangy, And shivers clear the path for the new. Yellow is there, warm, Shining as pure as the heart. Look, there; Overhead, they, the stars, shine like stars, as stars do, Vibrant and echoing through the night, Embracing a light devotion. Yet, they never dampen Or fade away; Unending as the spirit.

Actually, this piece isn't about stars or the sky at all. They are metaphors. ;)

The sky and the stars are such an inspiration to me when I write poetry! I can see why you chose this subject and the picture is awesome as well! Consider writing a poem about the clouds or other aspects of nature. I even wrote a poem about air once. The beginning lines went something like this: "My name is air, delightful like the waters, the sky reversed is the sea. I tend to ice skate on the sea of inevitability, cleansing my hands in repulsive memories and blemishes of a washed up world. As I sit, inhaling anger, I recall a time when I exhaled wind. I'm a free spirit..." It's kind of interesting to see how far you can stretch your imagination when determining the subject of a poem. I like this piece! Continue to challenge yourself by writing about people, places, or things you normally wouldn't write about! :) It will be a pleasant surprise! Plus, it's pretty fun. Nice work! Happy Writing! lol :)
