Statement

The tears run down her ghostly face Her eyes used to hold hope, now they hold nothing but despair Her voice is strained from what she once hoped would be heard Her cheeks have lost the glow that once gleamed But in their eyes she is just upset Oneday she will learn to grow up they say After all, what could a 15 year old be upset about? Doesn't she have friends? They whisper Why does she need so much attention? What's wrong with her? They loudly whisper to one another These people who whisper under their breath are not strangers Nor friends she made passing along the way These people who criticize her are among those who should know her best Their assumption is an understatement of what she feels Afterall they know nothing more about her other than she is theirs But to her no longer is she theirs She is her own
