Stick and Stones
Sticks And Stones
By: Nathaniel Noble
Sticks and Stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me..
Sticks and stones break bones, but no, words never hurt me
when my mom told me to pack up we’re leaving, that never hurt
when my father called crying asking why I left, that didn’t hurt
no but sticks and stones
elementary school when i was called stupid and pushed around, that hurt
but those were words?
how could they hurt, they were not sticks or stones… but words
when I got in fights at home that didn’t really hurt, but when my mom told me she was disappointed in me, that hurt.
sticks and stones are nothing compared to words
a picture is worth a thousand words, and so is a moment.
the moment in middle school when an upperclassmen said he wanted to punch me, just because of the way I laughed, that hurt.
when I got pushed into a locker I was able to brush it off, but those words…
faggot, dumb, idiot, those hurt…
High school my big shot to have it easy, but it was the worst point ever…
words I didn’t expect to hear were used daily,
the sticks and stones stopped coming, but words were an everyday bullet
words, they can be hurtful, use your words wisely, and you might just turn them from bullets to bandages
