Them vs. You

What stops us from going after our dreams, desires, and hopes?

Is it the fear of disapproval, judgment, or fearing that you yourself are wrong?

Why is it that we live our lives in fear?

We just avoid the conflict that we know will appear.

Instead of jumping on that rollercoaster and going for that crazy ride,

Instead of jumping into the sea and fighting back that iron tide.

You won’t know the happiness you will feel when it’s all over,

And words are finally revealed, when you can get off that rollercoaster.

Why does it matter if others disapprove?

Because then your living your life for them… not you.

They want to shelter, protect, and guide all the way,

But then you’re not experiencing, learning, or growing.

They, as well as you need to see,

They can’t protect you from everything,

Some things you just have to experience on your own and let it be,

And if it’s right then you will blossom and if it’s wrong then you will grow.

Making your own decisions is always easier said than done,

When you have judgmental faces around you,

And you know you can’t please everyone.

You just have to do what you believe is best for you,

And never let that flame of faith in yourself burn out,

Because then that is the time they will fill you with lies,

Or try to control you with your doubt.

So stand up against the tide, the wind, and the moon,

You’re the one who controls your own life,

Go now… it’s them vs. you.
