they dont know

they dont know

that i stay up at night

dreaming of who i could be

what i could do

what i could make and own

they dont know

that i try to picture my mother

the small details i can remember

trying my hardest

to remember something good

they dont know

that i try so hard to fit in and be accepted

but my only friend is the teacher

they do know

that im an outcast

thhe runt

the leftover

mushy

blueberry

they do know

that i spend all my time

reading a book

doing extra credit

they do know

that i wear jeans and tshirts

instead of crop tops and shorts

they do know

that im different
