Time Ticks and Flies by.

it’s hard to really grasp at what this whole life thing is

its really cliched to think that even, she is an adult now?

for years she never thought that I would make it this far

but it seems that the rose has bloomed

mind going a thousand miles an hour

heart beating as fast as turbo the snail goes.

Time and time ticks and flies by and she realizes

All the words they said

all of the things she felt

all of the times she hurt herself over what some dumb 12 year old called her

no she was not “cool” to fit in

and she still is not.

you called her names expecting her to go to your level

let her cry when you called her a baby hippo

don’t get me wrong, hippos are cute but,

you don’t tell that to a girl who’s parents just separated again.

you don’t ruin what’s left of her innocence.

you don’t tell her that you’re better than her because

you got your period early and are developing and she’s still a child

you don’t bring her down for the idea that you want to be cool.

she cried.

and she cried a lot.

she blamed herself for everything that happened

slit her wrists for the thoughts that maybe if she didn’t exist

everything would be better.

Until one day instead of a blade in her hand, she held a guitar and strummed.

Time and time ticks and flies by and she realizes

she hasn’t cut herself or starved herself in 5 years.

Shes done her college apps

She did her last field show with the marching band and cried

but this time they’re happy tears.

She got accepted to her first college in december

She applies to 35 schools because she’s a low income student

and took advantage of fee waivers.

she gets rejected from 22 and gets accepted at 12.

Time and time ticks and flies by and she realizes

prom is around the corner, she loses friends along the way

but in the end it’s better because she will be happy.

She commits to her school of her dreams and watches

as the kids who bullied her just stay home

while she’ll be heading to Oregon in the fall.

Theres nothing wrong with staying home she thinks but she’s been proved them wrong.

She’s amounted to something and no one can tell her otherwise.

Time and time ticks and flies by and she realizes

she’s graduating.

she did it.

she didn’t let the enemy control her.

The rose is officially bloomed and the sun can finally shine through.

Her time will never be up, yes it’ll tick and fly by but she’s in control.

She is ready to grow from a caterpillar to a butterfly

She’s letting her wings spread and she knows where she’s going.

This time she’s going to live, and she is going to write her own story.
