Trial or Denial

Close your eyes, go into trial-

full of lies in your head.

Crying on the inside

against the crime you just said.

But you must conform

and do what they want.

Let the innocent mourn;

turn your rose filter on.

But if you spoke the truth,

the inequity would be to you.

So instead the heart broken

will be the only one that’s true.

Why hurt another,

when you can’t even sleep?

Then you wake up to find

your heart is still counting sheep.

When your heart really wakes,

let the whole world know

you only have to live with yourself

at the end of the road.

So take the glasses off,

and turn the filter away.

Fix the bottom to top-

let the innocent be.
