Unconstitutional
Invasion of my property
that is what I hate.
Looking over my shoulder
Reading my life on papers that are
hidden behind my geometry notebook
Where is the 4th Amendment?
Where is the freedom to express
myself through scribbling dark nothings
onto a blank paper?
"Oh is that your poem book?" you laughed
with the boy who once called me a slave.
Are you questioning my skin because
it is the same color as yours?
Are you dehumanizing me or waiting
for me to speak up so you may flee
like a coward?
That day I had anxiety;
I couldn't breathe.
You could have mentally killed me
Because I was so weak.
I needed to release my anger on paper
But because of you, now,
I am too ashamed to.
When I got home
I threw my bag onto the table and went
to my drawer deemed 'Hazardous'.
I looked in it and saw nothing but my reflection
Almost like a slap to the face saying, "What are you doing?"
"You're not being weak and punishable by trying to take your life
with a few words said by people that are deemed 'Hazardous'
and worthless at that."
For once I had both my angels
and demons present,
And for once they both gave
me glances of stupidity.
My body not moving but my
conscious alive and thinking.
So, listen to me speak because
I am made of mistakes.
Next time you are wondering what
"quite Susan" is writing
keep it to yourself
because not everyone is strong as us survivors.
