Understanding

If I could sit here and tell you I planned this out, I would be lying.

As I lay here typing my thoughts I wonder to myself...what can I write?

How can I express myself?

Will it be good enough?

The more these thoughts pop into my head,

There's this only one thing that stays constant

They don't understand me...

You see,

Through the process of writing this the outcome is not on my mind

Poetry is not in my head

What is poetry?

What is a way to truly express ones self...

Through words and vivid pictures of the mind

Presenting what you want those on the outside to see what you see

To feel what you feel

Why don’t they understand me...

You write and write constantly trying to get those thoughts and emotions out of your head

So they won’t overtake you

So they won't consume you

So you can express what you cannot think

What you cannot dream or even imagine saying to that one person

I don’t understand why they don’t understand me...

Writing out the emotions that burn through your veins

Feeling like boiling lava beneath your skin

Yet…you feel so cold

Will they ever understand me?

You feel so alone

You feel like the only way to set yourself free is to write

To create

To share

But you…no rather I

I cannot concentrate

What was the point?

Why do I feel?

Why do I imagine?

Why do I express?

Why do I write?

It’s easy…

So that one day

They will understand…
