People get sorted before they’re seen,
shaped by assumptions that cut too clean,
treated like categories, not like a being
why can’t we just be human.
Lines get drawn where they don’t belong,
turned into rules like “right” and “wrong,”
acting like difference is something to wrong
why can’t we just be human.
People get treated like shapes to compare,
stacked up in lists like anyone cares,
stripped of their depth as if that’s fair
why can’t we just be human.
Maybe the world got too used to the game,
calling it normal, pretending it’s tame,
forgetting that everyone hurts just the same
why can’t we just be human.
