Will I Ever Be Enough, Mama?

You tell me I’m nothing like you.

I cry, I cry

Will I ever be enough, Mama, will I ever be enough?

I’m not your clone and I’m not going to drone

On and on about my life,

Even though you now want me out of yours.

I’m not sorry.

I did nothing wrong.

Your threats and bets beat my confidence to the ground.

I cry, I cry

Will I ever be enough, Mama, will I ever be enough?

You want to threat things important to me.

Speak with daggers and expect me not to take them to heart,

Even though I always do.

I’m not sorry.

I did nothing wrong.

I work my ass off, but that’s all I’ve got.

I cry, I cry

Will I ever be enough, Mama, will I ever be enough?

If the only thing I do right is through educational life,

Then who’s to say how you did as a mother?

These are your words, not mine.

I’m not sorry.

I did nothing wrong.

Wipe my tears and cross my heart,

That I’ll start living with our lives apart.

I left and we are no longer under the same roof,

Your words don't define me,

And I’m nothing like you.

I’m not sorry.

I did nothing wrong.
