Wounded

I walk these crowded hallways alone,

wondering why my peers are so quick to listen to your treacherous lies.

People stare and glare while tearing me to shreds,

fearful to disobey you.

A four year nightmare, that you never permit me to wake from,

the agony never seems to end.

Don’t you grow tired of hating me so much?

Daily I battle through the landmines you have set, struggling to stay on the path of sanity.

Your evil ways have beaten and scarred me.

But, I refuse to let you conquer me.

Because of you, I choose to soar above.

For you will always be trapped with your darkened heart.

My disdain for you turns to pity as I see what you have already become.
