You Would Never Know

Just look around you

You would never know

It could be the kid sitting alone in the lunchroom

Or your best friend right beside you on the bleachers

It could be the boy who would never look you in the eye

Or the girl who smiles and laughs at everything

You would never know

Whether something is wrong

Whether you know them or not

It doesn’t really matter

Because not all

Are who you think they are

Because in every one of us

Is that little girl or boy

Who just wants to feel loved

Like a lost puppy

Afraid of the dark and lonely night

So stop all the stigmas

Cease all the hate

Because someday

That kid might not be in the lunchroom

Or looking away to avoid your gaze

Because someday

She might not be on those bleachers

And she might not be laughing.
