Your Secret's Not Safe On The Bark Of A Tree
As the days of school roll by, there's a few things usually left unsaid.
You see, things that you could tell your diary but not your teacher.
When you see a typical Hollywood bully scene being played out in real life, it's easy to keep watching.
It's easy to watch the gruesome instead of taking a step forward and helping the kid out.
But why?
What makes it so easy for us to watch instead of take some action.
Why is it so easy to take a pen to a sheet of paper and confess your biggest abstractions to a tree?
Why?
Why is it so hard, to let the words of a witnessed sin fall from our lips?
What is it that is keeping everyone back and shut out?
You see, the hardest thing to do, typically, is to communicate.
We witness some of the most cruel and demoralizing children come in contact on a daily basis,
we hear the words they have to say to each other and it flows like a song on your i-pod you don't really care for anymore but forgot to press, "skip."
I don't know if it's the careless or the fearful, but who is really the bully?
Is it the kid who picks on whoever he wants to for the fun of it, or is it the mother who raised a daughter too insecure to care for herself rather than others flaws?
Is it their faults or is it the kid who saw the chance to speak up, and when the time came his lips were sealed?
You see… It's easy to type a few words onto a computer, because the mind believes it won't be here forever,
truth be told though, these words will be here forever.
As forever as a note of secrets you dropped out of your pocket, or a text that you sent to the wrong person,
the things a human values now-a-days are so minuet but they matter so much.
You see, whether you saw something happen today or not, or you never have.. Well, you will.
I still can't put a name to it, whether it's the fearful or the careless who is the main obscurity, it's not my place.
My place, is to give the world a mirror, even a light.
To open eyes and see that the unnoticed doesn't become forgotten, just ignored.
I want to tell my teacher I heard him cry on the phone for hours, but why would they listen?
I want to tell my teacher that a size 4 girl thinks she's fat because of her so-called friends.
I want to tell my teacher that the world would be a better place if no one cared but the problem is…
No one really cares, and that is why we confide in the pages of lost space.
No one will ever care to hear the bark of the tree that now holds our secrets.
This is one of the things you should tell your teacher,
but it's known as some of the sh*t you can't say to your teacher.
