From Other Eyes

October 12, 2017

I was taken aback

By your sudden words

Your pause

As I watched the emotions

Fall into form onto your face

I knew it was true

I looked to comfort you

As the tears fell

And suddenly it was you who comforted me

I know I have no right to be angry

But I am

It was a complete surprise

I wish I noticed sooner

Maybe I could have saved a life

But now he's gone

And it's just you and me

And our tears

Reminding us that this

Pain is real.
