Tree

February 9, 2018

naked under a juniper tree

bareboned and rigid like the rocky mountains afar

feeding on the old mulch

blind and dirty

burnished hazel protuberant eyeballs dumb as marbles

dialeted as the full moon

reflect the sad old bhikkus last nurishing efforts

like someone scouring a mirror

the old bhikku reappears

five years later

recognizes there is now a second tree

just as rigid and blind as before
