I Shall Remain

June 26, 2013
Your words cut me as if they were razors
"Whore" "Bitch" "Slut"
Even though you can pretend it never happened
I still remember
I still feel the pain
I still hear the echo of words spoken behind my back

Through your eyes
The fault always lies on me
Everything I do is wrong
So I stand against
A battalion of insults
A wave of criticism
A relentless attack of my whole being

And as we sit together
You with a smile of relief
And I with a smile of disguise
On the inside I am slowly
Breaking
Shattering
Dying

However
Despite the barrage of insults you hurl
And the hurt you bring with every interaction
I shall pick myself up
I shall glue the pieces of my shattered spirit together
I shall remain
