Altruism

Tue, 04/05/2016 - 22:31 -- Inkie

To lose myself within one of God's many gifts
 Alone
I would beseech the land and sea to walk with me
To remind me what I am blessed with and because
 Of how far I've come.
To understand the tribulations of the tides
And mark the imprint I leave upon the desolate sand.
To take heart the millions of years it took to shape each and every grain
The grains I so carelessly frolic upon in my insolence.
To cherish the souls I reap to sustain my person
And glean the rewards of survival.
I shall not be blinded by the insecurities of self
And I shatter the misconceptions of what it means to
 Survive.
I will thrive in the untamed environment
Where only I truly can understand who I am,
To release my soul and cast it out like a makeshift line
Where I attempt to fill my stomach with promises of tomorrow.
