The Bite

I knew I needed it

It was like a drug

I craved it with every ounce of my being.

I didn't mean to hurt anyone

I'm sorry if I got in the way

How could I know that one little taste would hurt?

You can't blame me for trying

All I ever wanted was to make you happy

But you didn't care.

Your family didn't care either.

They hurt me just as much as you did.

But with each passing day I craved you more and more.

I just couldn't help myself.

I found myself slipping

And slowly you had a stronger grasp on my life than I did

You became everything I longed for

But you bit me again

I bit you, and you burned me right back.

But I loved the burn

So I'll continue craving you until I die
