Dear Teenage Society

Dear Teenage Society,

On my thirteenth birthday, I stumbled to your feet

Curious and excited, I climbed in your backseat

You took me to a dim place, one I’d never seen before

I said I wanted out, but you chidley locked the door

The people there were lifeless, and kept a clenched jaw

I rolled down the window, and was shocked at what I saw

Their dreams were soaked in gasoline, and lit with a flame

Originality was scorned, and they were looked upon with shame

Suddenly you pushed me out, and I fell unto their obscene nature

Above me hung a sign, reading  “Welcome to the Life of a Teenager”

Trust me I’ve done my best, but this is my letter of resignation

My twelve year old self, couldn’t imagine this cruel dictation

I have advice to all of you, who are still young and free

Never grow up faster than necessary, and be all you can be.
