Gardenias and Stereos (an imitation of George Ella Lyon's Where I'm From)

I am from song,

from stereo and carseat.

I am from a cat on the street.

Stray, found with amazing grace.

I am from the flower garden,

the gardenias, whose pungent perfume I recall

as if it were under my nose.

I'm from harmonicas and bluebirds,

from loving tackles and pushed buttons.

I'm from God's bear hugs around a wanderer

and infinite songs He speaks with.

I'm from dark chocolate and pasta,

from planes that turned dreams into I'm here's,

the rain on the roof turning sleepy into sleep.

Although sometimes I wander,

lost in verses, universes,

I am from these moments,

placed on my path by the gentle lion, Father and Friend.
