Abba, Father

Wed, 04/02/2014 - 16:24 -- Fahiru

  Abba, Father

You held my hand

I took the step

You watched me grow

Before I leapt

I brought your lunch

And kissed your cheek

And we've got the whole room

Staring at me

No, it's not what you think

You've just misunderstood

This is something better

This is my Father

And on that holy night

the stars were falling

Chasing their brothers

From the sky

Though my ears are plugged

Still I hear you calling

We have each other

We hold the light

So dark, this world

That taught its wisdom

Amongst the roaring crowds

But we knew better

Our thoughts, though hidden

Are now unbearably loud

You taught me to ride the waves

Deep into the heart

Of the Matter

You held me close

When I needed you most

Isn't that all that matters?

And on that blackened night

When the sky fell to the sea

I may have just sat and cried

If you hadn't been by me

Til two A.M.

I toss and turn

The world, my canvas

Has just now burned

And my thoughts are real

And so is my voice

And so is my life

And so is this noise

That rises in pitch

And the tension's increased

My heart never lifts

Nor brings me release

But then you came to me

And you soothed my soul

You satisfy my needs

And leave me feeling whole

When the water claimed me, still

You reached and fought my grave

You held my hand

And though you trembled

You've never been so brave

You heal my heart

And guide my steps

You met me here

And never left.
