The Abyss

Location

Chills run down my back as i stare into the abyss that is the ocean. The wind like icy fingers run through my hair and whips it around like a tattered flag dancing in the breeze. I dig my frozen numb toes into the wet hard packed sand leaving little imprints where they once were. I can feel the storm coming the tension in the waves building ready to spill over and swallow the rocks that once held the sea at bay. I wonder if they know, if they know its coming. They can't stop it, no one can prevent this disaster from washing over me. Covering me in its cold blanket of despair and pain from head to toe. Will i make it through this? The waves lap at my planted feet. I turn and try to escape, i musn't let this overcome me. As i sprint towards the rocks those nagging feelings tug at my heart. Don't do it! Don't give in! I glance over my shoulder and see the ocean is calm a hundred yards out. The sun bright as ever shines and sparkes on the soft rolling waves. Hope? But is it worth the heartache? I spin around and face the angry waves nearest to me punching the sand. Oh how quick they have risen and reached out to me. They nip and grab at my ankles beckoning me to give in. A deep breath enters my lungs and i take a step into the abyss that has haunted my dreams. I can no longer see the sun, but i know its there. Somewhere it's there. Hope... Somewhere.
