and she said it

Wed, 06/28/2017 - 16:41 -- nl2018

and she said it
those four magic words
"and I"m sad. again."
there was nothing I could do
other then a jump into the well with her
so i did

like alice going down the rabbit hole
we fell through space and time
I forgot what was hers
and what was mine
this sucking aching drawing force
that made it hard to breathe
did it come from her?
or from me?

we tumble down into darkness
and tussle on the floor
it seems that she's forgotten
that I am hers forevermore
I tell her I'll never hurt her
but I see she doesn't believe
Does she even know it's me

she's tired herself out
she lays down on the grass
she stares out listlessly
then lets out an almost inaudible gasp
"I'm sorry", she murmurs, "I'm so so sorry"

At first I didn't understand
what she was apologizing for
and then i realized
there was blood on her pinafore
I cried out her name
but it was already too late
she had gone and left me
and sealed me to my fate

I was once a little girl
all innocent free
I didn't know there was any more to life
than climbing gnarled oak trees
but then one day I met girl
who lived inside myself
and she taught me all the different ways
that I could hate myself

and now that little girl
that used to be me
is lying dead somewhere
under a mystical oak tree
