The Anti-Fashion Of Imperfection

Location

“What a hypocritical creature I have become.

I can love the flaws
of those around me,
but deeply despise my own.

How can a human,
such as I, be that way?
Why is it that we
can accept the flaws of others,
but expect perfection from ourselves?”

“It’s simple,” I said.
“We yearn for the ones,
who do not deserve our attention,
to accept us.
We sell ourselves short,
for we truly do deserve flaws,
but not in the way
you perceive;
they are the only constants
in a world
consumed in
fads and fashions.
And even so, those flaws
can be improved upon.
But that’s only if you choose
not to accept yourself,
and the art of your body.
For, darling,
it does not show
the art of your soul.

You are a creation,
beautiful chaos,
beautiful light,
and treacherous sin,
sewn into one human being.
Your body is the art,
and you are it’s message,
don’t take yourself for granted.
Stop selling yourself short.”
