Background Noise
Sing your song of silence you lonely crickets, frogs and bees,
For only in your presence can humans well be pleased.
In the lone wood and sunny meadows alone they wish to be
And at nights in their beds as they begin to dream,
Wish only to hear their thoughts and be left in peace.
But humans cannot bear it when their minds do begin to race,
When all is calm and tranquil,
They panic,
And quicken their pace
For not only simple silence scares man half to death
But the thoughts that whisper in their restless heads.
So buzz, chirp on, and croak as you will
That they may be consoled that though alone, they are not alone still.
