Long ago, you drew lines in the sky, Then you broke our wings so we couldn’t fly, You made us weak and painted us black, White Dove, your armies went on the attack, You try to keep me out, to trap us all, Up upon your throne, you looked so royal… But how long did you think your lie could continue? In the beginning, it all really seemed so true, Then we realized–slowly–that there was more, That we could be great as we were once before; I know some of your kind love watching me cower, But you’re just afraid of letting go of your power, I know you’re really just afraid of me: A reality you’ll never be able to see; Oh White Dove, you claim to bring peace, So why can’t this hate against me cease? Why do I deserve to everyday be bound? Why can’t you look at me on even ground? You’re not evil but you think of me as a threat; But to change will not bring you regret; We can rise above your line now, If only this one change you’ll allow; The world is beginning to shift, as you know, And I’d rather have you as a friend than a foe; But we will carry on and there’s nothing else you can do. So change now, my friend, my captor, I implore you! Come be a part of my secret world, White Dove, And your Blackbird will bring you nothing but love.
